I had the great opportunity to participate in the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Voices for Science program. It's a program to train and improve science communication by scientists. It was a two-day intensive training on all aspects of communication including lectures, social media, press interviews, interacting with policy makers, etc. In the evening I was able to go get out and see some of DC sites and memorials. Always a blessing to get a chance to remember those who have gone before us.

View of Bellingham Bay and Mt. Baker as I flew out in the morning.

Lincoln Memorial and sunset.

WWII memorial at Idaho pillar. I had two great-uncles from Idaho who died in the war effort (one in training, the other as a POW in the Philippines). I always come back hear to preserve their memory.
